Hosanna Prison Ministry
Director: Polly Ward

Hebrews 13:3 “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners...”

We are soon to be in our seventeenth year and will continue as long as God allows!

Hosanna Prison Ministry goes to Mabel Bassett Correctional Center for Women every Monday teaching various Bible studies.

250    plus women involved in our weekly Bible studies

410    plus women responded through our prayer letter ministry

75    plus Women were involved with Faith in Character Program, who provide handmade items for homeless and pregnancy centers

1450  Scripture Calendars were distributed for year 2016

285  Approximate number of participants in the “Mommy and Me” book/picture program. “Whoever receives one little child like this   in My name receives Me.”     Matt 18:5

The ministry has seven full time volunteers and one part-time volunteer that serve at the Mabel Bassett Correctional Facility.  There are three additional full time volunteers that serve off site responding to and answering prayer requests from the inmates.  These volunteers are from seven different Southern Baptist churches.  There is a great need of additional God Called volunteers that would be willing to serve on a regular basis in this important ministry. Mabel Bassett is located in McCloud, Oklahoma and has all levels of offenders incarcerated.

The Mommy and Me ministry, provided each Monday, serves over 1,000 children and reaches all over the United States and even into other countries.  This ministry allows an incarcerated mother or grandmother to record themselves reading a book.  Then Hosanna mails the book, picture and CD to their child or grandchild.  This ministry is fairly expensive with postage and supplies but is also very important in the lives of these children that benefit.  They are always in need of new or gently used board books as many of the children are very young.

Another ongoing ministry includes Angel Tree each year at Christmas which provides gifts to children who have one or both parents in prison.  Oklahoma still has twice the National average of women incarcerated compared to all other states, or the world, and has held that record for over 10 years.

The weekly Bible studies are held in the Chapel that is 5000 square feet inside Mabel Bassett Center.  This 200 seat facility was greatly needed for the Bible studies and other events due to number of women wanting to attend.  The chapel is also equipped with a Baptistery, changing rooms and educational rooms for smaller group teaching.  It contains office space to house the new full time chaplain.

OUR GREATEST NEED:  People who would make praying for us a priority!!!  Not only while we are inside the prison, but during travel to and from prison.  We KNOW we are going into an area of deep spiritual darkness.  We also KNOW we are bringing the Truth of Jesus Christ to lost women.  So, of course, the enemy throws every “road block” in our path to try and stop us, so Please Pray for us in this very important ministry.
